Dr. Lara Wakefield has over 25 years working in the field of special education. She is an Advocate supporting and empowering families in understanding IEPs, 504 Plans, Evaluations, Eligibility, and Procedural Safeguards.
She is a member the Council or Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA), American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and Missouri Disability Empowerment (MoDE).
Dr. Wakefield is in private practice at Wakefield Consultation Services which is located in Columbia, Missouri. She travels nationally for invited presentations, workshops, and seminars.
She is the co-founder of SMARTER Steps, LLC a national consulting business with her colleague, Kelly Ott. They have co-authored several products and created the trademarked webinar series "SMARTER Steps to IEP Goals" which is available through their membership website.
